There’s the fuel that fills your tank and the fuel that fills your stomach, but in Acadiana, both can sometimes be found under the same roof.
Some of the best food may be waiting inside convenience stores or gas stations, according to Al Hebert, a morning reporter for Acadiana News First and longtime food explorer known as the “Gas Station Gourmet.”
Whether it’s shrimp pasta served on Fridays at a Lafayette-area gas station, fried ribs at a Church Point stop or homemade plate lunches and burgers in other parts of Acadiana, these convenience stores offer more than a quick fill-up.
“I’ve probably visited roughly 25 to 30 gas stations in Acadiana, and that’s not including stops in other states,” Hebert said. “Still, there’s nothing like Cajun food.”…
