TULSA, Okla. – The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce has received a $650,000 National Park Service grant to restore 10 historic commercial buildings along Historic Black Wall Street.
The funding will pay for structural repairs and architectural preservation after drought and severe water intrusion caused deterioration to the properties, according to the chamber.
The restoration project will address both exterior and interior portions of all 10 buildings. Planned work includes:
- Emergency masonry and brick stabilization
- Replacement of storefront windows and exterior commercial doors
- Interior stucco replacement
- Storefront entryway tile repairs
- Targeted limestone restoration
