SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)– A Nebraska man has been sentenced to serve a total of 15 years after a fatal stabbing incident in Sioux Falls on April 18, 2025
Kaleb Martin, 27, pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree manslaughter and aggravated assault in July.
The victim was 43-year-old Virgil Wayne Hawk Wing III. Martin was originally charged with murder, prosecutors previously dismissed that charge.

The judge sentenced Martin, of Alliance, Nebraska, to 15 years in prison with credit for 510 days already served. Ten years of that sentence was suspended. Below is a breakdown of the counts and sentences.
- Count 1 aggravated assault: sentenced to 15 years with 10 years suspended and credit for 510 days served.
- Count 2 second degree manslaughter: 10 years with 510 days served
- Count 1 and Count 2 are to be served consecutively.
