GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A De Pere girl found a piece of local history not in a museum, but at a local Unity Resale on Commanche Avenue about a year ago. She found it again when her family was moving and is now sharing the recipes in it online.
A collector’s find
Melody Duvall loves history. Her father, Tyler Duvall, said, “(She’s) always been interested in old books and antiquing.”
“The really old, busted up cover, I guess, stood out to me,” Melody Duvall said. “Along with the fact it was a community cookbook from Green Bay and also published in De Pere. And it was only like $7, so I thought, well, might as well get it.”
A century of recipes
The cookbook, from the Married Ladies Sodality at St. Patrick’s Church, dates back to 1923.
