New York State Department of Transportation officials broke ground last week on a $150.5 million Central Testing Laboratory at the W. Averell Harriman State Office Building Campus in Albany, a four-story, 114,500-square-foot facility that will replace materials-testing operations more than 60 years old. The new building at 1220 Washington Avenue, known as Building 14, is designed to take over the work currently done in Building 7, a structure that dates back to 1963.
