LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — More than five years after a motel hostage standoff in Las Vegas, the man at the center of that incident has agreed to plead guilty to two unrelated murders.
Court records show Antonio Barry-Edwards entered a guilty plea agreement in August. Under the agreement, he is pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon. The parties agreed to 25 years to life in prison on each count, served consecutively, for an aggregate sentence of 50 years to life in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
The plea deal follows a May 2021 incident in which Barry-Edwards was escaping from police after getting into a fight with police over a stolen motorcycle and SUV. Police said he ran into a room at a motel near Dean Martin Drive and Blue Diamond Road, drilled a hole in the wall, and held a woman and young boy hostage for 29 hours.
