Capron Park Zoo mourns zookeeper Kayla St. George after sudden death

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WJAR) — Capron Park Zoo is mourning the loss of longtime zookeeper Kayla St. George, who died this week after suffering a stroke.

St. George, 39, worked at the Attleboro zoo for about five years. Her father, Roger St. George, said caring for animals was a lifelong passion.

“Her love of animals started with the movie Free Willy,” he said. “And from there, her love of animals just expanded to the point where she really loved caring for all kinds of animals.”

St. George studied at the University of Rhode Island, interned at Mystic Aquarium and Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and worked at Buttonwood Park Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo before joining Capron Park Zoo…
