The Town of Bluffton and the Bluffton Police Department hosted a solemn memorial to the victims of Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. Friday morning at Buckwalter Place’s Veterans Memorial Park.
On Friday, the 25th anniversary of the attacks, Bluffton Mayor Pro Tempore Fred Hamilton began the ceremony by recounting where he was on the morning when the planes crashed into the World Trade Towers. He was in his office, with the television on showing what was happening.
Hamilton said he was thankful in some respects to have a television at his office to witness the terror, but also noted those images are burned into his memory.
After a musical tribute, Bluffton High School’s JRTOC Cadet Major Zachary Metsker, 17, recounted the day about the brave people who responded, including the passengers and crew aboard United Airlines Flight 93 who took over the plane against the hijackers and crashed it in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania…
