Marion County officials deciding fate of proposed data center moratorium

Marion County commissioners will make a final decision on an ordinance that would implement a 12-month moratorium on the acceptance, review, and approval of new data centers.

Scheduled as the final agenda item during the regular meeting of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, September 15, the proposed ordinance would impose a temporary pause of up to 365 days on all development permits, site plans, rezonings, and conditional use permits related to data center facilities, cryptocurrency mining operations, and large-scale data processing facilities.
