Tacoma-based Homeostasis, a startup developing technology to convert carbon dioxide into synthetic graphite for industrial applications, was awarded a $303,518 Small Business Innovation Research grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation last month and also received an undisclosed private investment from San Francisco-based venture capital firm Pachamama Ventures.
To date, Homeostasis, which was founded in 2022 and works out of the Petrich Marine Dock, near the Murray Morgan Bridge, has been awarded $1 million in grant funding and has raised $1.2 million in investment, according to company co-founder and CEO Makoto Eyre.
“The National Science Foundation (NSF) is a rigorous, no-nonsense technical organization,” Eyre said in an email to South Sound Business, which wrote about the company’s technology last year. “Receiving funding from them is a major technical validation milestone.”…
