Annual Scarecrow Showdown

The Cannon Falls Chamber of Commerce is once again putting on its fall decorating challenge for chamber member businesses. Member businesses/organizations, put up your scarecrows and submit a picture to the Chamber by Friday, Sept. 18, to compete in the contest where residents will vote for the best scarecrow. Submissions can be sent to [email protected].

Dakota County Budget & Property Tax open house

Dakota County will host a Budget and Property Tax Open House Thursday, Sept. 10 from 5–6:30 p.m. at the Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley.

This open house is an opportunity for residents to:

  • Better understand the county budget and property tax levy and the services the county provides.
  • Learn how rising costs, new state and federal cost shifts and other factors are creating new challenges for 2027 budget planning.
  • Ask questions about their property taxes.

​There is no formal presentation. Residents can attend anytime during the open house.
