(COLORADO SPRINGS)– Construction is underway on a new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in Colorado Springs following a groundbreaking ceremony. The project, which was first announced in 2023, is located near Flying Horse Ranch.
The new temple will sit on more than 18 acres of land and will span approximately 45,000 square feet. It will serve more than 20,000 people across the region, joining three existing temples in Colorado located in Denver, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction.
Hundreds of community members gathered to watch as leaders used golden shovels to officially break ground on the site. Community member Amelia Savage delivered the ceremonial prayer during the event.
“I did the prayer for the groundbreaking of the Colorado Springs Temple,” Savage said. “I had a lot of butterflies in my stomach, but once I did it, I was so relieved that I didn’t make any mistakes and stuff, and it was a 2-minute prayer.”…
