The Oklahoma Sooners have to fix their issues, and Brent Venables will make sure it happens.
The Oklahoma Sooners struggled mightily on Saturday against the Michigan Wolverines. They looked worse than anyone imagined and lost to a Michigan team many think is legitimately bad. After the game, Brent Venables shared his thoughts. Now, some of it was actually positive. He thinks his team is better than what he showed. And he should say that. He should have belief in his guys. But there were also some pretty powerful things he had to say afterward. A few one-liners let everyone know just how disappointed he was.
Brent Venables opens up about the Sooners’ bad play vs. Michigan
“We need to do a better job of slowing down and not hurrying when we’re throwing the ball… We have to make some of those throws more catchable,” Venables said of John Mateer’s play on Saturday. And Mateer was bad, very bad, but it’s not all on him. The offensive line didn’t play very well, either. He was asked about that, too.
“Obviously not good enough,” Venables said when asked how he felt about the blocking on Saturday. And he has a right to be short and sweet. His team massively underperformed. They went into the game as the favorites, on the road in Ann Arbor where 100 thousand fans would be screaming at them. And what did they do? They showed the world they may be the same team as last year, or, even worse…
