MORNING HEADLINES | The fall’s annual super-avian migration across the Palmetto State is underway, peaking next month with as many as 600 million birds crossing our nighttime skies. Charleston County alone may see the crossing of 80 million birds, according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
According to Cornell’s Birdcast website, almost 1.7 million birds crossed through Charleston County last night. Migration generally starts within an hour of sunset with most birds in flight two to three hours later.
