SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Sunday was a very active weather day with clouds, sprinkles early in the morning, some mid-morning to midday sun coming out and then a few rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Temperatures maxed out in the low to mid 80s across parts of CNY include the airport in Syracuse which is about eight degrees above average along with high humidity.
Notice the green shade on this observed high temperature map from Sunday across the upper Midwest and Southern Canada where highs were only in the mid and upper 60s.
We’ll sample some of this fall chill come Monday and then again later this week. A cold front was responsible for the active severe weather experienced in parts of CNY Sunday.
Behind this front the air is much cooler, but also much drier. You should be seeing a crisp blue sky some the sun out all day and just a few puffy cumulus clouds mixed in. A very refreshing airmass after Sunday’s high humidity.
Looks cool in the morning for the kids waiting for the school bus so I’d recommend they have a sweatshirt or light jacket with them then…
