BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Birmingham police say their Special Operations Bureau made 86 arrests and seized 30 firearms during a week of focused enforcement aimed at reducing violent crime and improving public safety across the city.
The Birmingham Police Department said its Special Enforcement Teams concentrated on violent crime, illegal firearms, narcotics trafficking and other criminal activity during the week of Sept. 7, 2026, through Sept. 13, 2026.
Police reported 44 felony arrests and 42 misdemeanor arrests during that period. Officers conducted 24 traffic stops and issued 377 uniform traffic citations, including 65 speeding citations. Police also reported 181 citizen contacts and said 11 vehicles were impounded. No firearms seized were reported stolen or altered, and no impounded vehicles were reported as recovered stolen…
