A Birmingham councilwoman joined with mental health professionals in an event designed to provide services and remove any shame or embarrassment in seeking help.
Councilwoman Crystal Smitherman Saturday partnered with the Black Women’s Mental Health Institute and Nurture to present a free mental health clinic at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
“We are really trying to break the stigma around therapy and counseling and the different types of therapy,” Smitherman said. “We were giving them the resources they need to be able to move forward.”…
