ALACHUA, Fla. (WCJB) – The Alachua Planning and Zoning Commission passed a motion Tuesday night for a 12-month moratorium in an effort to halt any potential data centers.
Second attempt at discussion
A discussion on regulating data centers was set for last Tuesday, but only two planning commission members showed up, so the meeting could not move forward. Residents who were present last week finally got the chance to go to the podium to ask about data centers.
Some residents also raised concerns about the county’s growth and what the new comprehensive plan could mean for future development.
