ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The National Weather Service says it’s working to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America on its resources.
The U.S. government agency says the name change will happen in phases to avoid disruptions to operations. This comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in late August directing the U.S. Interior Department to change the name of federal documents. The order came after trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada failed to reach a resolution.
