WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A former downtown Wilmington hotel clerk will spend nearly a decade in prison after stealing the personal and financial information of over 100 guests across two different hotels.
Kevin Jamar Wright, 40, was sentenced Friday, Sept. 11, in New Hanover County Superior Court to serve between 117 to 153 months (9 to 12 years) behind bars. He could face an additional 33 to 49 months if he violates probation after his release.
According to the district attorney’s office, Wright was sentenced as a habitual felon following his guilty plea to dozens of charges, including two counts of aggravated identity theft, two counts of financial card theft and eight counts of obtaining property by false pretenses.
