EDGEWOOD, N.M. – An Edgewood couple says a City of Albuquerque sanitation truck totaled their car, leaving them to replace a vehicle their family relies on every day.
Mitch and Terrie Gruen said the crash happened Aug. 17 near I-40 and University while he drove his 9-year-old special-needs grandson to therapy. He said a city sanitation truck hit his car while he turned from the inside of two right-turn lanes.
“And I quickly remembered Max is in the back, of course, and I’m like, Max, are you okay? Max, are you okay?” Mitch Gruen said. “And nothing, no sound at all from the backseat, which automatically had me in a little bit of a panic.”…
