SPOKANE, Wash. – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded grants on Tuesday to multiple organizations working to help veterans across the region who are at risk of becoming homeless or already homeless in fiscal year 2027.
The grant funding will go directly towards efforts within the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center’s “catchment” area, which encompasses roughly 64,000 square miles across north-central Washington, eastern Washington, the Idaho Panhandle and Lincoln County in northwestern Montana.
“This funding is part of a record-high $1.17 billion in grants awarded to 680 organizations across the country to fight Veteran homelessness,” VA officials stated. “The grants follow VA’s success in housing 51,936 homeless Veterans in Fiscal Year 2025, the highest number in seven years.”…
