Leading defense company lands $1.2 billion contract for weapons that can hit moving ships

Lockheed Martin on Sept. 14, secured a $1.2 billion Pentagon missile system contract, according to a notice posted that day.

Breaking Defense says the program, called Precision Strike Missile Increment 2 Early Operational Capability, is the Army’s initiative to develop a missile capable of hitting moving ships and other maritime threats, and is designed to travel up to 310 miles.
