Hurricane Marie has moved on, but its impacts remain visible with stripped sand from beaches, damaged homes and eroded portions of the coastline. Some of the most significant damage occurred along Beach Road in Dana Point, where more than a dozen homes were damaged by waves, leading the City of Dana Point to declare a local emergency.
The Capistrano Bay Community Services District began emergency work to install a boulder revetment behind Beach Road homes in an effort to prevent additional erosion.
