A major rehabilitation project on a well-traveled connecting road between Sewickley Heights and Bell Acres, which has been closed for more than two years, began earlier this month.
Backbone Road has been closed since April 2024, when landslides between Little Sewickley Creek Road and Grouse Lane in Bell Acres caused significant damage to it.
Things got so bad that portions of the road, including guide rails, spilled down the hillside and onto Little Sewickley Creek Road, a state road. About 400 cubic yards of material were hauled away last summer…
