POPLAR GROVE, Ill. (WTVO) — RAMP Disability Resources and Services hosted its 16th annual Bad Pants Golf Open on Wednesday at Timber Pointe Golf Club in Poplar Grove following a weather postponement.
The nine-hole scramble fundraiser supports local programs designed to empower individuals with disabilities.
The outing, originally scheduled for June before being delayed by inclement weather, brings participants together for golf, contests and community support.
Proceeds from the event directly fund RAMP’s services, which assist individuals of all ages with housing goals, job placement and independent living resources.
The outing features a cowboy theme selected by RAMP’s marketing team. Participants compete in a nine-hole scramble layout while dressed in outrageous attire, with judges evaluating the best bad pants across the course as teams play.
Amanda Fair, development associate for RAMP Disability Resources and Services, explained that the event serves as both a fundraiser and an opportunity to engage with the community.
“In the past we’ve done different themes with the Bad Pants,” Fair said. “Whoever has the best bad pants, there’s prizes at the end of the night.”
Fair noted that the event typically generates upward of $20,000 to fund RAMP’s operations, following a cancellation due to rain during the previous year’s scheduled date.
“Our marketing team, our development team, volunteers that work in direct services and leadership in RAMP have all come out here today to help make this a great event,” Fair said. The photo opportunity backdrop was provided by Velvet Petal Events…
