(NewsNation) — Andrew Wimsatt was stabbed to death last week while sitting on a park bench in Round Rock, Texas, shortly after visiting his elderly mother in a nursing home, according to authorities.
Matt Welch, a longtime friend of Wimsatt, joined “Katie Pavlich Tonight” to remember him. Wimsatt, a structural engineer based in Austin, was well known in conservative media circles, where he built friendships with numerous TV personalities over the years.
Wimsatt was a devoted fan of several conservative talk shows and became a fixture in the communities that formed around them, Welch said. He had a habit of tracking down and sharing clips whenever his friends appeared on TV. Broadcaster Greg Gutfeld once called him the least transactional person he’s ever met — a description Welch said fit perfectly. “He was just sort of like, hey, this is great,” Welch said.
