KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Independence man who was accused of fleeing from police and causing a crash that left a grandmother dead has been convicted and ordered to serve time in prison.
Matthew T. Brooks, 35, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court to one count of second-degree murder for the 2023 wrong-way crash that killed 50-year-old Sharon Ault.
