Can the Bulldogs finally clear the Cougar fence? For three years, Quince Orchard Cougars and Stone Bridge Bulldogs have played essentially the same game. Stone Bridge brings a defense capable of making Quince Orchard uncomfortable. QO eventually finds a way. The Bulldogs’ offense never quite finds one.
That script came dangerously close to changing in the first meeting in 2023, when Stone Bridge pushed the Cougars to the brink before QO scored the winning touchdown with less than 20 seconds remaining. Since then, however, the Bulldogs have managed to keep QO’s offense in check without ever seriously threatening the Cougars themselves. Last year’s 20-0 QO victory has aged particularly well. It was the only loss Stone Bridge suffered until the Bulldogs ran into Virginia powerhouse Maury in the state semifinals.
But there’s an important distinction this time around: Stone Bridge’s offense looks like it has learned something from those games. The Bulldogs don’t want another valuable lesson. They want the win. And if this is indeed the final chapter of this interstate series for the foreseeable future, Stone Bridge has every reason to empty the tank…
