FRESNO, Calif. – Tribal leaders gathered in downtown Fresno on Thursday to be recognized ahead of California Native American Day.
The ceremony at Fresno City Hall brought together both federally and non-federally recognized tribes from the Fresno region. Each tribe received an individual proclamation recognizing their history, culture, and presence in the area.
Among the tribal groups were the Wuksachi Tribe of Eshom Valley, Wukchumni Tribe, Traditional Choinumni Tribe, Chaushila Tribe of Yokuts, Big Sandy Rancheria, Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians, and North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians…
