The award-winning Kosher Chinese eatery Holy Chow! in the Kemp Mill Shopping Center may permanently close this weekend, amid what owner Ami Schreiber says are declining sales and community support over the past two to three years.
Schreiber said in a lengthy announcement posted to Facebook Thursday morning that orders at the Lamberton Drive restaurant have declined by at least 30% over the past two to three years, while food, labor, and other operating costs have continued to rise.
The catering business has all but disappeared, and while the restaurant would celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2027, Schreiber said it needs consistent support from customers, schools, synagogues, and other community organizations to keep the business going, sparking intense discussion on both the restaurant’s Facebook page and on Reddit…
