Syracuse’s kicker missed a FG so wide left he got benched

The Syracuse Orange traveled south to take on the Pitt Panthers on Thursday night. The game aired on ESPN which meant a national audience had the opportunity to watch one of the worst field goal misses you will ever see. The good news is that the Buffalo Bills were playing on Thursday Night Football so it is unlikely that everyone in central New York was watching.

The game started slowly for Syracuse. The offense turned the ball over on downs on their first drive and punted on the second. By the time the offense took the field for the third time Pitt was up 14-0.

Quarterback Steve Angeli started the third drive with two completions including a 34-yarder to wide receiver Umari Hatcher. Then the drive stalled at the 10. That’s when sophomore kicker Tripp Woody took the field to attempt what was just a tad longer than a chip shot. It did not go well…
