CHCCS school board cuts Mandarin magnet. Here’s where those students will go next year.

Most Mandarin world language students at Glenwood Elementary School will return to their neighborhood schools in August 2027 following Thursday’s board vote to end the program.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board already voted Aug. 20 to send Glenwood’s Mandarin dual-language students to Rashkis Elementary for the 2027-28 school year. The school’s Mandarin world language students had been anticipating a move to Mary Scroggs Elementary School.
