A 35-year-old man has been detained following a series of knife attacks targeting multiple women near a hotpot restaurant in Guangzhou University Town, China. The incident occurred Monday afternoon and left several victims injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailant appeared to deliberately stab pedestrians in the eyes, causing significant facial injuries. Disturbing images from the scene showed numerous wounded individuals, including an elderly woman with a knife embedded in her face and blood-soaked clothing.
Police responded promptly to the reports of the attack around 5:20 p.m. on Xiaoguwei Street in the Panyu District. Officers arrived quickly, apprehended the suspect-identified only as Li-and arranged medical treatment for the victims. Fortunately, none of the injured remain in life-threatening condition.
The Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Panyu Branch confirmed that the investigation into the motive and circumstances of the attack is ongoing.
