CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County District Attorney Spencer Merriweather is asking the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to launch a criminal investigation into Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Merriweather says last month he reached out to the SBI to do an “informal” review into reports of allegations of financial irregularities within transactions, and based off that review, the district attorney says he’s now asking the SBI to launch a formal criminal investigation into CMS.
