Two men acquitted in cousin’s Detroit murder

Two Metro Detroit men were acquitted this week of the murder of their cousin in July 2025.

Javon Hawk of Detroit and Joseph Houston of Sterling Heights were accused of killing 23-year-old Michael Davis on July 8, 2025, near the front entrance of a Detroit apartment complex.

Hawk was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm and was acquitted Sept. 16 in both cases. His attorney, Wright Blake, did not respond for comment…
