KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A man is facing charges after Knox County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle, leading to a pursuit that ended when the car struck a utility pole and two mailboxes Saturday.
According to KCSO, deputies have been working for weeks to locate a stolen vehicle that has been using stolen plates that Knoxville Police had issued an alert for. Saturday, deputies on the Charlie Shift spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but it fled.

Deputies pursued the stolen car from Asheville Highway onto South Chilhowee Drive, and during that pursuit, the car traveled through multiple four way stops, KCSO said.
The pursuit ended after the car struck a utility pole and two mailboxes before coming to a stop.
KCSO said deputies safely took Adarius Barnett, 19, into custody on charges of speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen license plates, and evading arrest.
