We’ve been writing about Leonard Johnson for so long that his first published mugshot didn’t have any facial tattoos. Times, and his face, have changed. This is now our fifth story about Johnson since 2018, and it will probably be the last for a while. He was sentenced to seven years in prison this week for robbing a passenger on the Orange Line downtown.
Judge Sophia Atcherson handed down the sentence Tuesday after Johnson, 27, pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing a weapon in a penal institution.
On June 18, 2025, Johnson was riding the Orange Line in the Loop when he blocked a train door and stopped a 27-year-old passenger from exiting as the train pulled into the station around 1 p.m., prosecutors said.
