World Cleanup Day in Spokane Draws Hundreds of Volunteers to Restore River

SPOKANE, Wash. — Hundreds of volunteers fanned out along the Spokane River on World Cleanup Day, working together to remove trash and debris that threatens the region’s most vital natural resource.

The Riverkeeper and the Lands Council organized the annual cleanup event, which drew 150 volunteers within the first 30 minutes. By midday, the collective effort had already filled an entire truckload with collected garbage.
