University of Arizona sends a cease and desist letter over use of Wildcat logo

WILMINGTON — Wil­mington Public Schools recently received a cease and desist letter from the University of Arizona regarding the use of the Wildcat logo. According to the letter, the town must stop using the ex­isting logo, as it is an of­ficially registered trademark belonging to their university.

New Superintendent Mat­thew Poska explain­ed that, while the university is understanding of the time it will take to fully phase out usage of the licensed design, the district will have to begin efforts to remove all in­stances of the U of A Wildcat.

Thankfully, the large lo­go on the WHS turf will be allowed to remain un­til the turf itself is due for replacement in several years…
