TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa homeowner who discovered her house had a connection to Greenwood’s past is now working to help others preserve the history in their own communities.
Sharonda Ballard has lived in the home since 1992. She said she did not learn of its historical significance until a neighbor told her the house had once been a historic gathering place.
“I’ve been here since ’92, and I didn’t know that it was historical until I was talking to a neighbor down the street one day,” Ballard said. “She said, ‘Did you know your house was a historic place?’”…
