EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -After a punishing week of record high temperatures and humidity for September, relief is finally in sight. Sunday’s forecast high of 97 will break the record of 96 set in 2022. A big change is in store for the start of the work week as a cold front pushers through the Tri-State on Monday. A few scattered showers and storms will usher in seasonably cool air that will stay with us through the week.
SWEATER WEATHER ARRIVES MID WEEK
Fall officially begins on Tuesday with the Autumnal Equinox…the point at which the sun is directly over the equator and we receive roughly 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness. The days have been getting shorter since mid-June, and we will lose daylight at a faster rate through October. The reduced sunlight will allow temps to drop into the chilly range this week with overnight lows in the middle 50s possible. Daily highs will range in the mid 70s Tuesday through Saturday…
