A woman was arrested for an overdose death in Tampa after an investigation found the victim’s death was due to fentanyl toxicity. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested and charged her with Murder in the First Degree Which Resulted From the Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance last month, but the fentanyl investigation had been ongoing.
On December 30, 2025, deputies responded to a death investigation at a residence in the 9000 block of Hickory Circle in Tampa. Because the death appeared to be consistent with a drug overdose, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Opioid Overdose Investigations Section assumed the investigation.
