A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 4 AM Monday for portions of Western Kansas. Large hail and damaging winds are primary hazards. A tornado cannot be ruled out.
The winds of fall change have arrived! This weekend’s cold front also sparked a healthy amount of much needed rainfall for several over the last 24 hours.
There were also a few severe storms along for the ride. Overnight, as storms started to pick up over the Wichita Metro, a 75 MPH wind gust was reported at Eisenhower National Airport.
Attention turns to a small batch of storms that will form this evening to the northwest. A few could be strong to severe. Damaging winds, large hail and a tornado cannot be ruled out. This area had a tornado warning yesterday evening and one later today is not off the table.
Temperatures will be comfortably cool overnight.
Scattered showers and rumbles will linger over the west and try to inch closer to Wichita on Monday. This will largely get steered southeast as it wanes into Monday.
Afternoons this week will be more reminiscent of fall instead of summer with highs in the 70s and 80s. Fall officially begins on Tuesday at 7:05 PM CDT. No signs of temperatures returning to 90 degrees and above this week.
Tuesday looks dry before more rain and a few storms form over the west and track across the state late Wednesday into Thursday. Mild and comfy air continues into next weekend!
