TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Public Schools is encouraging students to apply for the district’s Seal of Biliteracy, which recognizes proficiency in multiple languages.
The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by TPS in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in English, as well as an additional language upon graduation. TPS said the seal represents the district’s commitment to value the whole student and foster pride in cultural and linguistic heritage.
The district said many colleges recognize the benefits of bilingualism, which include improved memory, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, enhanced concentration, ability to multitask, better listening skills, greater creativity and flexibility and the ability to switch between competing tasks…
