In what’s become an annual ritual, thousands of Baton Rouge public schoolchildren struggling in reading or math will soon attend three-times-a-week tutoring sessions provided in person or virtually by companies that specialize in this work.
In a shift, these companies won’t earn their full payouts until enough of their students demonstrate significant growth on screeners and standardized tests. Indeed, 40% of their contract payments will now be contingent on meeting student growth targets.
