FORT THOMAS, Ky. (WKRC) – Money troubles in Fort Thomas, Northern Kentucky’s third-largest city, appear to be deeper than previously disclosed, with a new draft forensic audit finding city leaders cannot account for more than $713,000 spent over a four-year period.
Fort Thomas City Council commissioned the external forensic audit after it was discovered $322,000 could not be accounted for. Last year, city leaders disclosed they needed to write off that amount because they could not account for where the money was spent. At the time, city leaders and council reported they did not suspect any wrongdoing, and the city said it was not a direct financial loss.
