HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Newburgh Chandler Public Library (NCPL) announces one of its branches is closing for renovations.
NCPL will be closing the Bell Road branch for renovations beginning October 12. This comes after the branch previously closed to allow for an HVAC system update. Officials say they plan to be closed for about three months for these newer renovations. Officials note this is not a decision they came to lightly.

According to NCPL, its main motivation for this closure is to ensure the safety of patrons and staff during construction. Closing for three months also allows contractors to complete work faster and more efficiently, allowing the Bell Road Branch to resume normal activities much sooner than if they had not closed. NCPl notes this closure also greatly increases the likelihood of having a regular Summer Reading Program.

The NCPL says it knows its three-week closure was long, and this will be even longer, but officials say the closure will be worth it. Officials note the first phase completed during its previous closure was nearly invisible, with the HVAC system being replaced. The next phase will consist of the completion of the HVAC system update as well as physical updates to the interior of the building.
A spokesperson says, “We look forward to serving you at our Chandler Branch with extended hours again during this closure!”…
