INDIANAPOLIS – More than 22,000 Indiana storm survivors have now been approved for federal assistance following the historic flooding that wiped out parts of Indiana, according to FEMA.
More than $92 million in federal assistance has been approved so far.
“This is a whole community approach,” FEMA Public Information Officer Julie Joseph said. “FEMA is here to support the state as survivors navigate the recovery process; we can supplement any state or local resources and possibly provide funds for temporary housing.”
FEMA says residents should not assume they are ineligible for assistance because they have insurance or have already started making repairs.
What you need to apply
FEMA says residents applying for assistance should be prepared to provide:
- Proof of identification.
- Banking information.
- Proof of occupancy.
- Insurance information, if applicable.
- A letter of determination from their insurance company, if they have received one.
