Mosquito control treatments will be conducted Wednesday and Thursday in a portion of La Puente in an effort to reduce mosquito populations and the risk of mosquito-borne disease amid elevated West Nile virus activity across Los Angeles County, officials announced Monday.
The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District will conduct the treatments by truck between midnight and 5 a.m. both days in the area between Azusa Way and Chatterton Avenue, north of East Valley Boulevard.
The treatments come as Los Angeles County health officials have reported 100 cases of West Nile virus this year, the highest number this early in the mosquito season in nearly a decade. Five deaths have been reported…
